Food for Thought

Food glorious food!

Aromas that connect to our memories, sounds and sights of food, that pleasure our senses.

What is your relationship with food?

It is a good question to ponder. Our relationship with food can affect many aspects of our life.

Throughout this section on food, I will discuss the benefits of food, there will be recipes mostly on the healthier side. Due to genetically high cholesterol, I have learned to adapt, with  lighter versions of cream and cheese and spices for flavour

Food should be a happy place, somewhere we sit and enjoy, with family, or company in relaxed surroundings. A place where we take our time, where we pay attention to the food, not rushed. I know that is not a realistic approach to every day, but it should be something we practise instead of averting our attention to TV or Social Media. Once your attention is diverted you are no longer paying attention to the food you are eating and POOF it’s gone!

Did you know people who eat out more than 3 times a week have an average of 25% more body fat?

There are 3 simple things you can do to help minimize weight gain. Drink more water, fill your plate with more vegetables and have a cut-off time; when the eating stops.

Sounds easy, doesn’t it?

Fast food is accessible everywhere and social media feeds us ads on what they think we should eat every minute of the day. Why should they tell us what they want us to eat just to make more money, to make more ads?

We have some much information at our fingertips and yet we continue to become more obese and unhealthy, taking drugs to control diseases that are mostly curable with a good diet and some exercise. Have we become that much of a throw-away society that we are throwing ourselves away because it's easier?

Take the time to examine your thoughts about food.

How you feel about eating, what you eat and when you eat.
