Water
Water…
Is water overrated?
The answer is no water consumption is key to a healthier lifestyle, it is a great diuretic, helps alleviate bloating and puffiness. 55-60% of our body is water, our earth is 71% water although most of it is too salty to drink only 3% is not salted water.
Drinking more water flushes out toxins, helps our bowels move better, and improves the look of our skin. Water also helps kidney function, prevents a drop in blood pressure, can regulate body temperature and can help with headaches. Not drinking enough water can also be the reason you feel hungry.
Having a glass of warm water in the morning before you eat is really good for your body. I like mine with lemon, however if the acidity is too much for your stomach, and you don’t like it plain, try adding a little honey or ginger. If you want to spice it up try ginger and a pinch of cayenne.
The reason I like lemon is it is one of the medicinal citrus fruits. It has a high vitamin C content. It is also a diuretic, so it works well with water to help flush your body, it is good for anyone who suffers from inflammation. Lemon is acidic outside your body but once metabolized it becomes alkaline, although the acidity can affect your teeth, so follow a glass of lemon water with a plain water, brush your teeth, or enjoy a hot beverage.
Daily intake suggested is to drink half your body weight in ounces. If you are performing physical activity, or you are an athlete you will need more.
Water as a choice will enhance your well being, making a conscious decision to intake more water on a daily basis, it can improve your mood, it can help with weight loss, and also help you think clearer. Over time if you keep it up you have created another good habit.
